MAYA CLEMENT
Above: INTENT LISTENING: ODYSSEY Media Group Managing Editor Maya Clement, a Clarke Central High School senior, sits in Room 231 listening to a staffer ask a question at the fall press conference with CCHS administrators on Sept. 15. Clement has attended two press conferences during the 2022-23 school year and feels that they are extremely helpful. "I love attending press conferences because they are the best opportunity to speak to the admin and obtain accurate information. I am really appreciative that the admin is willing to take time out of their day to speak with us and they are willing to give us the information we need within reason," Clement wrote. "I also think press conferences are an amazing way to strengthen important life skills such as professionalism, projecting your voice, focus and quick thinking. I don't think that high school students have many opportunities to expand these skills, so the press conferences are so important." Photo by Aza Khan
MY STORY
Hello! My name is Maya Clement and I am the Managing Editor for the ODYSSEY Media Group at Clarke Central High School in Athens, Georgia. This is my third year on the Production staff and my fourth year in the program. During the 2021-22 school year, I served as the Beat Editor and I was on the Digital Staff. Last year and this year, I am fortunate to assist the Editor-in-Chiefs in leading a 30-person staff as the Managing Editor.

As Managing Editor, I edit all of the stories being published in the ODYSSEY Newsmagazine, mitigate staff conflict, submit ODYSSEY for contests and mentor staffers with their writing, editing and leadership. I am very passionate about growth and seeing everyone find what they are interested in that the program has to offer. I love helping people in any way possible and I try to make sure everyone feels like they have a place in ODYSSEY.
